'''**Note: for all recipes, see JEI**'''
Why isn't this in the book? The UI sucks and is a pain to edit if I need to change things. Wish it could be in the book, but I'm not touching it.
== Health And Body ==
The experienced Minecrafter will notice that their health bar is gone, replaced with a system on the left of various body parts, each with their own health. Press H to find out more.
Oh, watch out for thirst! You can drink water by right-clicking a water source block, but you'll find that this water is dirty, and you'll want to get yourself a filter to use with a bottle or canteen in future.
Finding food is also important, you'll see plants and animals that may provide some food for a time, but you'll want to be farming and combining raw ingredients to make actual meals later on.

== Finding a home ==
While you are out gathering, it is important to find a place to settle. Now, don’t think that you’ll be forever stuck at that place (horse-drawn carriages and trains can help you move) because you will be traveling fairly often to find all the materials you need to thrive, even venturing into hostile dimensions for some things. When you start, you’ll want to find a place that is near water (doesn’t have to be right on it, you can make aqueducts later, though only really useful if you are beneath or on the same level as the source), and provides access to wood and food.
Being near a surface vein of coal or another valuable ore would be a bonus.

== Making something of yourself (you’re going to college) ==
'''**Note: Punching wood is useless**'''
To begin, you’ll want to gather some flint, sticks, plant fiber, seeds, and sand.
Sticks can be found on the ground or by breaking leaves. These are important, but should be a lower priority compared to gravel.
Flint can be found in the flat rocks on the ground, or from gravel.
Gravel, like clay and sand, can be found in the world. When you break it, you will obtain gravel piles. Craft these into gravel, and then sift through it for flint by placing two gravel diagonally in your crafting grid.
Plant fiber is obtained by breaking tall grass, vines, and such.
Once you have some flint (you’ll want quite a bit of it), find yourself some stone in world. Start hitting the flint against it (don’t hold left click) until you get yourself some flaked flint. This is knapping. (The same can be done with a bone to get a weapon.)
Now, make yourself a flint hatchet. Begin gathering some wood. Breaking the bottom block of a tree should chop down all of it, though a few are particularly magical….
Now, apply the hatchet to the log in your crafting grid to obtain a basic crafting table. Make a work blade, pickaxe, and anything else you want.

== Pit Kiln ==
All basic smelting recipes are handled by the pit kiln. To make a pit kiln, dig out a single block in the ground, then shift-right-click an ingredient into it, for example a pile of sand.
Then you'll need to place thatch on top of the items. Thatch is made from either dry thatching from a drying rack, or from letting wet thatch dry in the world.
Finally, you'll need 3 logs to go on top.
Now, just light it on fire and wait! A pile of sand will give a glass bottle, while clay will give bricks.

== Mining ==
So, you have a pickaxe and you think you’re ready for mining? Ha! More stuff to do. First, go back out there and gather more wood and plant fiber. Also, start farming now with those seeds you’ve gathered, food is always better than starvation.

Now that you have a pickaxe, it is finally time to go mining.
'''Note: you can find this information in JEI by looking at the recipe for the ore.'''
How to find ores: {Taken from Dooglamoo World’s Curseforge page} Using a prospector's pick could also help...
Each ore has required conditions and bonus conditions.
You should be able to find some ore if just the required conditions are met, but you could find significantly more ore if the bonus conditions are met.

'''Coal'''
Required conditions: Stone base rock and thick topsoil layer.
Bonus conditions: Wet climate and bowl-like depressions in the ground.
'''Iron'''
Required conditions: Stone base rock and hilly or mountainous.
Bonus conditions: Smooth land with no visible erosion and with lava lakes or obsidian on the surface.
'''Gold'''
Required conditions: Granite base rock and deeply eroded canyons.
Bonus conditions: Cold climate and hilly or mountainous.
Notes: Look for the stone strata layer in the granite base rock.
'''Redstone'''
Required conditions: Granite base rock and hilly or mountainous.
Bonus conditions: Dry climate and very thin topsoil layer.
'''Lapis'''
Required conditions: Granite base rock.
Note: Look for the andesite strata layer in the granite base rock.
'''Emerald'''
Required conditions: Granite or diorite base rock.
Note: Look for the andesite strata layer. Emeralds are sparse.
'''Quartz'''
Required conditions: Diorite base rock and smooth land that is far from any visible erosion.
Bonus conditions: Very thin topsoil layer and no lava lakes or surface obsidian.
Notes: Look for the granite strata layer of the diorite base rock.
'''Diamond'''
Required conditions: Diorite base rock and lava lakes (possibly surface obsidian).
Notes: Diamonds are deeper underground and uniformly spread out.
'''Glowstone'''
Required conditions: Deeply eroded canyons, no lava lakes, and thick topsoil layer.
'''Clay'''
Required conditions: Sandstone base rock and wet climate.
Bonus conditions: Bowl-like depressions in the ground (may be filled with water) and very thin topsoil layer.
Notes: Look for white terracotta strata layer in sandstone base rock.
'''Copper'''
Required conditions: Granite base rock and hilly or mountainous.
Bonus conditions: Dry climate and no lava lakes or surface obsidian.
'''Tin'''
Required conditions: Granite base rock and wet climate.
Bonus conditions: Deeply eroded canyons and lava lakes or surface obsidian.
Note: Does not currently exist.
'''Aluminum'''
Required conditions: Sandstone base rock and very hot climate.
Bonus conditions: Smooth land with no visible erosion and thick topsoil layer.
'''Lead'''
Required conditions: Diorite base rock and lava lakes.
Bonus conditions: Deeply eroded canyons and thin topsoil layer.
'''Silver'''
Required conditions: Stone base rock and cold climate.
Bonus conditions: Deeply eroded canyons and hilly or mountainous.
Notes: Look for the andesite strata layer in the stone base rock.
'''Nickel'''
Required conditions: Sandstone base rock and flat plains or bowl-like depressions in the ground.
Bonus conditions: Wet climate and no lava lakes or surface obsidian.
'''Uranium'''
Required conditions: Stone base rock and very thin topsoil layer.
Notes: Uranium is very sparse.
'''How to find caves:'''
As erosion increases, the frequency and size of caves increases. Surface entrances are almost non-existent, sometimes they can be found underwater in eroded areas. Caves do not usually extend up into the topsoil layer so you have to dig down into the rock below the soil. Abandoned mineshafts are fairly common.

'''How to find coastline & ocean:'''
Look for fairly straight fault lines running across the terrain and sometimes across the water. These fault lines will be one block higher on one side. Go in the direction that the blocks step down to eventually find an ocean. Keep looking for more fault lines on your way to ensure you are continuing in the right direction. Go in the opposite direction to go to higher elevations.

== Charcoal Creation ==
Coal is great and all, but it has far too many impurities to be useful in smithing. Charcoal works better, though the wood used can affect it...
To make charcoal, a normal log is not very useful. You'll need to process it a bit. First, place the log in the world, then hold shift and repeatedly right click with your work blade to remove the bark. Once this is done, repeatedly right click with your axe to chop the log into pieces.
These pieces are then crafted into a log pile. Place several of these in a hole, light it on fire, then quickly cover it with dirt. Wait until you no longer see smoke.
Now, just dig it up and enjoy your charcoal!
